I've seen two people here mention Homestuck before now, so I thought I'd make a thread to connect and to see if there were any more fans lurking. To those not knowing about Homestuck, I'm not sure how to explain Homestuck without giving away spoilers. Here is an explanation that is kinda without spoilers, and here is where you can start reading Homestuck. If you have time on your hands I recommend giving it a go, just try to stick with it. So, any fans?

.....was not. Not sure if I am now. Über-awesome plot/characters, even if I'm doing on my phone. (Don't get the sounds or choices[?]) But the plot. Oh. My. Gawd. Who in the wold came up with it? It's so convoluted I'm haveing an aneurysm trying to follow the storyline. At least after the intermission. That was when it got complicated.
I will contine reading, but thanks for the post. So much fun to read! Read 4 chapters in 2 days.
Ps. Whoever made this had WAAAAY too much time on their hands!

I know it'll seem a bit hypocritical to put my few cents on this subject, considering my whole username IS of Homestuck, but... I'm not a big fan of Homestuck, though of Hussie's past projects I'm pretty okay with. Homestuck has taken it's fine share turn to 'Hey this is pretty cool!' to just Hussie wanting to harass his fanbase by doing the exact opposite of what they want him to do. It's funny he wants to go against them and ruin their theories and compilations etc., but it gets annoying very fast.
I wouldn't NOT recommend Homestuck to anyone, but I also wouldn't talk about it out of the sheer fear they might turn into the bad side of the fandom and get quickly turned off by it with out giving it a try as well.

..../intrigue meter fills. I shall read these stories that are...unspinoff-y and un-lorebreaking.

I get what you mean, but every time Hussie makes homestuck a little more like older stuff with jokes SO MANY people seem to get up in arms about every little joke, so I can see why he does it.

The fandom actually delayed my reading of Homestuck for a very long time. But, I did find some really nice people into homestuck and gave Problem Sleuth a try, and I loved it. I don't actively recommend Homestuck, but the art/music/plot/characters are so well developed and I do really love the web comic.

The fandoms I've been exposed to on Tumblr seemed nice enough, but I was just looking at the art and cosplays, never spending long on some very serious looking discussions. The fans' liveliness drew me to Homestuck in the first place. I'm ~5500 in aaand it's kind of amazing.
